My unexpected talk with a wealthy man
Murilo Mondays #4
Hey soldiers,
I met a multimillionaire today by accident
This is the story:
I invited my friend to come over to my house so we can study for a test for a class we have in common
Fortunately, he answered my text saying: “Hey why don’t we go to Starbucks instead?”
I didn’t want to be an asshole, so I luckily responded “Let’s run it”
As we sit down at Starbucks we are talking about this one Andrew Tate post where he talks about getting 20 close friends, pooling all their income from a 9-5, and using it to get investments
A guy right next to us overhears our convo, and he tells us about his business.
I won’t get into detail but he was making over $400 an hour from his computer sitting in Starbucks or sailing across the US on his Yatch
Flaunting wealth is cool but here are the most important lessons I’ve learned from him
College nowadays is rarely a good Return on Investment
Back in the day, College was a differentiatorPeople that had college degrees were certain to get a job because most people didn’t.
Fast forward to 2023, everyone and their momma has a degree.
In fact, one of my friend’s dad was in college for 12 years and is now stuck as a fast food manager for a 50k-a-year job.
I seriously don’t want to waste thousands of dollars for something that doesn’t even guarantee me a job anywhere
I am considering the idea of going all in on my business now.
He has a kid, and he told us.
“I don’t want her to go to college unless she wants to become a doctor or lawyer”Write down questions when interviewing someone
I wasn’t exactly interviewing him
But I missed out on many questions that I could have asked him simply because I didn’t write them down on a piece of paper
If you don’t write it when that idea sparkles in your mind, you may lose it.
Forever.Cancel culture
When he was in 8th grade, he had a die-hard Republican teacher and a Democrat student, argue about politics every class.
In a year, he learned much about politics because those two would challenge each other ideas.
However, nowadays most people can’t argue a point without fear of being canceled.
Ideas can only sparkle if people are willing to challenge their beliefs.
But if we meet every new idea with cancellation then we are never going to be exposed to new ideas.Take a stranger’s advice with a grain of salt
He admitted that I should take his advice carefully.
We are all different so my advice may not be good to you, but I am saying what I think I would have done knowing all that I know today.
Even though he has made millions of dollars with his business, he is humble enough to know that this advice doesn’t apply to everyone.
Bro was the top G for real.
Things I am working on this week:
Twitter Growth
I have been stuck on 24 followers for four months
Clearly, I am doing something wrong
So I am changing my strategy slightly:
Posting - 1x a day → 2x a day
Dming - 0x a day → 2 new people a day
Engaging with new accounts - 0x a day → 15 minutes a day
By focusing on the parameters I can control, I will focus on what action I can take and not on the results.
To an extent, it is a form of stoicism. I focus only on the controllable.
English Literature Test
Even if I may not be going to college, I think studying for something is still an important skill that I can learn to master
At the end of the day, it won’t waste me much time since I will only study for this for another 11 days.
If I end up going to college, passing this test will save me thousands of dollars.
So I think there is a positive return on time investment here.
Have a great rest of your week soldier
Good luck with your battles, whatever they may be.
PS: Americano from Starbucks was not worth it, it tastes the exact same as what I can make at home for less than 3x the price.
